Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage was established to feed, nurse and house young elephants found abandoned by their mothers, or sometimes baby elephants fall into pits and ravines in their quest for water during the drought period, or by any means, if a baby orphan is found before weaning, diseased or wounded they were taken into the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. In the year 2017, there were more than 90 elephants. Once you arrive you can bottle feed the baby elephants and watch baby jumbos playing while they take a bath in Ma Oya.

Peradeniya Botanical Garden

Peradeniya Botanical Garden is an impressive collection of fine orchids, more than 4000 species of plants, highly valued medicinal plants, spices, a stately avenue of royal palms, and the extraordinary, aptly named cannonball fruit tree and 40m-high Burma bamboo. Another big hit is the giant Javan fig tree on the great lawn, with its colossal central trunk and umbrella-like canopy of branches.

what to wear at Temple ?
You have to wear something that covers your shoulders and knees (both sexes), and ideally you’d cover your ankles too. On the bottom, wear longer shorts, capris, pants/trousers or a knee-length-or-longer skirt. On top, choose any shirt that fully covers your shoulders Also note Sri Lanka is hot, so wear something light possibly white
Should I Remove Shoes When Entering The Temple premises?
Yes you have to be barefoot. Outside every temple, you will see shoe racks where you can place your shoes when you take them off. Don’t worry, you can safely leave them there
